Fashion is an art that reflects life. Now and again we hear the names of Valentino, Paco Rabanne, Givenchy, Versace etc. There fashion designers have a great influence on our hair styles, the way we wear things, the way we put on makeup and even behave in this or that situation. Every season fashion gurus determine our choices of clothing. A fashion calendar includes several very crucial events which are called fashion weeks. Fashion weeks are arranged each season for fashion houses to display their latest collections in runway shows and for customers to have a look at the latest fashions. The most important thing is that they display the fashion industry what is in fashion and what is out of fashion for the season. The most impressive fashion weeks are held in the fashion capitals, including Milan, London, New York and Paris where luxury clothes (also known as haute couture) are demonstrated. Haute Couture is a French phrase for expensive and fashionable clothes designed for women. Couture denotes dressmaking, sewing, or needlework and haute stands for sophisticated. Haute couture items are made for a particular customer from high-quality, expensive fabrics and sewn by hand commonly using time-consuming techniques. Hence, couture garments are luxurious and exclusive. Depending on the haute couturier and the garment, the cost of a couture item ranges from $10, 000 for a blouse to $40, 000 and normally beyond that figure. The price includes payments for the service, work, an exclusive design and first-class fabrics of the finest quality. Furthermore, every customer will get a garment to fit them ideally. It takes approximately 100-150 hours to produce a handmade suit and up to 1000 hours for an embellished evening dress with thousands of beads sewn by hand. A couture house like Chanel, for instance, will have about 150 regular clients ordering luxury clothes, and a couture house like Dior will make approximately twenty couture wedding gowns yearly Fashion houses use only luxurious fabrics, including expensive silks, fine wools, cashmeres, cottons, linens, leather, suede and furs. Along with clothes, renowned couture houses make luxury accessories, including hats, buttons, belts, gems, shoes, handbags. Those who can afford couture garments, pay for exclusivity and the privacy offered by the system.
