| Corpulence is one of the serious health problems. Many people are unhappy with their present weight, but the majority are not sure how to alter it.
Weight control is about long-term success. People who lose weight rapidly by crash diets or other extreme ways commonly gain back all (and sometimes more) of the pounds they lost, as they have not perpetually changed their habits. The body likes sluggish alterations when it comes to food and physical exercise.
For example, somebody who has not taken exercise for years should not rush into running miles a day. The intention to do so will leave you feeling disappointed and demotivated, and you are also much likely to cause damage to yourself and set your fitness levels back further.
The same goes for people who suddenly begin starving themselves. Diets that severely restrict calories or the types of food 'allowed' can cause shortage of nutrients and vitamins that your body requires to function properly.
Food is the source of energy in our body. Any undue energy is stored as fat. Hence, if you eat more food than your body needs for daily activities and cell maintenance, you will put on extra pounds. To lose weight, you need to make your body use up these stores of fat. The most efficacious way to do this is to reduce the amount of calories you consume and do exercise.
Supplant fizzy drinks and fruit cordials with water, swap whole milk for semi-skimmed, eat less lunch than usual, drink tea and coffee without sugar, order smaller servings of the food you enjoy, avoid having a second portion at dinner, cut out unhealthy treats - such as chocolates, sugary cookies and crisps - between meals, reduce alcohol consumption. You should think of weight loss in terms of permanently changing your eating habits.
Someone who begins to do exercise more, but sustains the same diet and calorie consumption, will almost certainly lose weight. No matter if you hate gyms, even light physical exercise, such as a 20-minute walk, will be beneficial if done on a regular basis. Each time you do physical activities more than usual, you burn calories and fat. There are a lot of ways to raise the amount of physical exercise you do. Racket sports, Pilates classes, running, walking and cycling will all make you fitter.
All these things will influence your health in a positive way and bring the expected results. |
